Product Overview

Ceramic Fiber Cloth is a woven textile manufactured from high-quality ceramic fiber yarns, reinforced with glass filament and optional metal wire for added strength and durability. It combines the outstanding thermal insulation properties of alumina-silicate fibers with the flexibility and handling ease of a fabric, making it an ideal material for high-temperature sealing, wrapping, and protective applications.

Our factory produces Ceramic Fiber Cloth through a controlled spinning and weaving process. Ceramic fibers are blended with a minimal amount of organic carrier fibers—selected for their effect on flexibility—and reinforced with glass filaments or stainless steel wire. The yarns are then woven into a tight, uniform cloth with precise thickness, width, and density control.

This Ceramic Fiber Cloth is classified for continuous service up to 1000°C and short-term exposure up to 1260°C. It contains no asbestos, is non-toxic, and offers excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and molten non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and zinc.

Manufacturing Process and Quality Control

Every roll of Ceramic Fiber Cloth starts with the careful selection of raw materials. We control three critical variables that directly affect product performance:

  • Organic fiber content — Determines the ablation rate and flexibility of the final cloth. We use viscose as the primary organic carrier because it offers the best balance of flexibility and clean burn-out. Lower organic content means less smoke during first heat-up and better dimensional stability at high temperatures.

  • Glass filament reinforcement — Adds mechanical strength to the yarn and improves handling. We use fine-diameter, alkali-free glass filaments that do not compromise the high-temperature insulating performance of the Ceramic Fiber Cloth.

  • Metal wire selection — When wire reinforcement is required, we use 304 stainless steel as standard. This grade offers excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. 302 and 201 stainless steel are available as lower-cost alternatives, while iron wire is suitable only for non-corrosive applications.

The twist level of the yarn and the weaving density are carefully controlled to produce a smooth, uniform surface with the right balance of flexibility and abrasion resistance.

Key Features

  • High-Temperature Resistance
Ceramic Fiber Cloth withstands continuous temperatures up to 1000°C and short-term exposure up to 1260°C. It does not melt, ignite, or degrade under direct flame contact.

  • Low Thermal Conductivity
The porous fiber structure gives the Ceramic Fiber Cloth excellent insulating performance, minimizing heat transfer and reducing energy loss in high-temperature equipment.

  • Thermal Shock Resistance and Low Heat Capacity
The lightweight woven structure absorbs rapid temperature changes without cracking or spalling. Its low heat storage allows faster heat-up and cool-down cycles, improving process efficiency.

  • Resistance to Molten Non-Ferrous Metals
Ceramic Fiber Cloth resists wetting by molten aluminum, zinc, and other non-ferrous metals, making it suitable for splash protection and transfer applications.

  • Chemical Stability
The cloth withstands attack from most acids, alkalis, and organic solvents. It does not outgas or release harmful substances, even at elevated temperatures.

  • Good Low-Temperature and High-Temperature Strength
With glass filament and optional metal wire reinforcement, Ceramic Fiber Cloth maintains adequate tensile strength across the entire operating range, from cryogenic conditions to continuous high heat.

  • Non-Toxic and Environmentally Safe
The product is asbestos-free, odorless, and harmless to the environment. It complies with international occupational health and safety regulations.

Applications

Ceramic Fiber Cloth is used across industries where flexible, high-temperature insulation and sealing are required:

  • Furnace and Kiln Sealing
Used as door seals, curtain material, and expansion joint covers in heat treatment furnaces, ceramic kilns, and glass annealing lehrs.

  • High-Temperature Pipe and Container Insulation
Wrapped around hot pipes, flue ducts, and storage tanks to reduce heat loss and protect personnel from hot surfaces.

  • Valve, Flange, and Fire Door Seals
Ceramic Fiber Cloth is cut and fitted as gaskets and sealing strips for valves, flanges, fire doors, and fire curtains.

  • Engine and Instrument Insulation
Protects engines, exhaust systems, and sensitive instruments from radiant heat and thermal damage.

  • Fireproof Cable Coverings
Wrapped around power and control cables to prevent fire spread and protect against high-temperature exposure.

  • High-Temperature Fireproof Materials
Used as a base fabric for fireproof suits, welding curtains, and other protective equipment.

  • Insulation Cover Fabrics and Flue Linings
Acts as a cover material for removable insulation pads and as a liner in flues and chimneys.

  • Asbestos Replacement
Replaces asbestos textiles in high-temperature gaskets, sound absorption, and filtration applications.

Advantages Over Fiberglass and Asbestos Textiles

  • Wider temperature range — Ceramic Fiber Cloth operates continuously at 1000°C, far beyond the 400–500°C limit of fiberglass cloth.

  • Better chemical resistance — Resists acids, alkalis, and molten non-ferrous metals better than fiberglass.

  • Superior electrical insulation at high temperatures compared to fiberglass-reinforced fabrics.

  • No health risks — Unlike asbestos textiles, Ceramic Fiber Cloth is non-toxic and safe to handle with standard PPE.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between glass fiber reinforced and stainless steel wire reinforced Ceramic Fiber Cloth?
A: Glass fiber reinforcement is lighter and provides good electrical insulation, but it has a lower temperature limit than metal wire. Stainless steel wire reinforced Ceramic Fiber Cloth offers higher tensile strength and better performance under mechanical stress, especially at elevated temperatures.

Q: Does Ceramic Fiber Cloth smoke during first heat-up?
A: A small amount of organic carrier fiber burns off during the first heating, producing slight white smoke. This is normal and stops after the first cycle. For applications where smoke is a concern, we offer low-organic or pre-sintered Ceramic Fiber Cloth.

Q: Can Ceramic Fiber Cloth be sewn or cut easily?
A: Yes, the cloth can be cut with heavy-duty scissors and sewn with standard industrial sewing equipment. For wire-reinforced grades, tin snips or specialized cutting tools are recommended.

Q: Is this product suitable for contact with molten aluminum?
A: Yes, Ceramic Fiber Cloth resists wetting by molten aluminum, zinc, and other non-ferrous metals. For direct contact applications, we recommend our slag-catching or non-wetting grades.

Q: What is the minimum order quantity?
A: Standard sizes can be ordered from as little as one roll. Custom specifications typically require a minimum of 100 rolls or 500 m².

Q: Can I get a sample?
A: Yes, we provide free standard samples of Ceramic Fiber Cloth to qualified B2B buyers. Custom samples may involve a nominal fee, credited against the first bulk order.
