Graphite Sheet for High-Temperature Industrial Sealing

Graphite sheet, also known as flexible graphite sheet or expanded graphite sheet, is manufactured from high purity natural graphite flakes that are expanded and compressed into sheet form. It is widely used for high-temperature gaskets, seals, thermal insulation, heat shields and other demanding applications where conventional materials fail.

The sheet exhibits excellent resistance to high temperatures, most chemicals, and radiation, with low creep relaxation and good compressibility. Pure graphite sheet is available, as well as reinforced grades with stainless steel foil (316L, 304, 316) or wire mesh insertion for added mechanical strength and blow-out resistance.

We supply graphite sheet for overseas distributors, industrial buyers, gasket manufacturers, maintenance companies and OEM customers, with different purities, thicknesses, reinforcement types, sheet sizes and custom cutting available according to specification.

High Temperature Resistance Continuous service up to +450°C in oxidizing atmospheres and +650°C in steam or inert conditions.
Excellent Chemical Inertness Resistant to most acids, alkalis, solvents and hot oils; not recommended for strong oxidizers.
Low Creep Relaxation Maintains bolt load over time, ensuring long-term sealing reliability on flanges.
Reinforced Options Stainless steel foil or wire mesh reinforcement for higher pressure and blow-out resistance.
Material Advantages

Why Choose Graphite Sheet?

Graphite sheet combines high-temperature capability, chemical resistance, low creep relaxation and self-lubricating properties for demanding sealing applications.

01

Wide Temperature Range

Graphite sheet can withstand temperatures from -200°C to +450°C in oxidizing environments and up to +650°C in steam or non-oxidizing atmospheres.

02

Chemical Resistance

Graphite is chemically inert to most chemicals including acids, alkalis, solvents and hot oils, except strong oxidizing agents such as nitric acid and sulfuric acid at high concentrations.

03

Low Creep Relaxation

Graphite sheet exhibits minimal creep relaxation, maintaining gasket stress and ensuring reliable sealing over extended service life.

04

Good Compressibility & Recovery

Flexible graphite conforms to flange irregularities, providing effective sealing even on rough or pitted surfaces.

05

Reinforced Grades Available

Stainless steel foil or wire mesh insertion increases mechanical strength, pressure rating and blow-out resistance for demanding flange applications.

06

Self-Lubricating

Graphite has natural lubricity, reducing friction and wear in dynamic applications and facilitating easy gasket removal after service.

Selection Guide

How to Choose Graphite Sheet

The correct graphite sheet grade and dimensions should be selected based on temperature, pressure, chemical exposure, flange type and required reinforcement.

01

Purity & Grade

Select carbon content based on application sensitivity. High-purity grades (≥ 99%) are recommended for nuclear and high-corrosion applications; standard grades suffice for general industrial use.

02

Reinforcement Type

Pure graphite sheet is suitable for moderate pressure. For higher pressure and blow-out resistance, choose stainless steel foil or wire mesh reinforced grades.

03

Thickness & Sheet Size

Thicker sheets compensate for rough or uneven flange surfaces. Specify sheet dimensions for efficient gasket cutting.

04

Operating Conditions

Confirm temperature, pressure, chemical media and thermal cycling requirements to select the optimal grade and reinforcement.

Manufacturing

Controlled Production for Consistent Quality

Consistent graphite purity, density, thickness tolerance and reinforcement bonding are critical for reliable graphite sheet performance.

PROCESS / 01

Graphite Flake Expansion

Natural graphite flakes are chemically treated and expanded at high temperature to produce expanded graphite with excellent compressibility.

PROCESS / 02

Sheet Forming

Expanded graphite is compressed and calendered into sheets of uniform thickness and density. Reinforcement foil or mesh is inserted during this process.

PROCESS / 03

Inspection & Testing

Finished sheet is checked for thickness tolerance, density, carbon content, ash content, tensile strength and surface quality.

PROCESS / 04

Cutting & Packaging

Sheets are cut to standard or custom sizes, and packaged with protective interleaving for export and storage.
