Graphite Gaskets for High-Temperature & Chemical Sealing

Graphite gaskets are sealing components manufactured from flexible graphite, either by cutting from graphite sheet or by compression molding into the desired shape. They are widely used in petrochemical, power generation, chemical processing and other industries where high temperature, chemical resistance and low creep relaxation are critical requirements.

Graphite gaskets are available in pure (unreinforced) grade for maximum chemical resistance and conformability, and in reinforced grades with stainless steel foil (316L, 304) or wire mesh insertion to improve mechanical strength, pressure rating and blow-out resistance. Custom sizes and non-standard shapes can be produced according to drawings or samples.

We supply graphite gaskets for overseas distributors, industrial buyers, gasket fabricators, maintenance companies and OEM customers, with different purities, reinforcement types, dimensions, thicknesses and packaging available according to specification.

High Temperature Resistance Continuous service up to +450°C in oxidizing atmospheres and +650°C in steam or inert conditions.
Excellent Chemical Inertness Resistant to most acids, alkalis, solvents and hot oils; not recommended for strong oxidizers.
Low Creep Relaxation Maintains bolt load over time, ensuring long-term sealing reliability on flanges.
Reinforced Options Stainless steel foil or wire mesh reinforcement for higher pressure and blow-out resistance.
Material Advantages

Why Choose Graphite Gaskets?

Graphite gaskets combine high-temperature capability, chemical resistance, low creep relaxation and self-lubricating properties for demanding sealing applications.

01

Wide Temperature Range

Graphite gaskets can withstand temperatures from -200°C to +450°C in oxidizing environments and up to +650°C in steam or non-oxidizing atmospheres.

02

Chemical Resistance

Graphite is chemically inert to most chemicals including acids, alkalis, solvents and hot oils, except strong oxidizing agents such as nitric acid and sulfuric acid at high concentrations.

03

Low Creep Relaxation

Graphite gaskets exhibit minimal creep relaxation, maintaining gasket stress and ensuring reliable sealing over extended service life.

04

Good Compressibility & Recovery

Flexible graphite conforms to flange irregularities, providing effective sealing even on rough or pitted surfaces.

05

Reinforced Grades Available

Stainless steel foil or wire mesh insertion increases mechanical strength, pressure rating and blow-out resistance for demanding flange applications.

06

Self-Lubricating

Graphite has natural lubricity, reducing friction and wear in dynamic applications and facilitating easy gasket removal after service.

Selection Guide

How to Choose Graphite Gaskets

The correct graphite gasket grade, reinforcement and dimensions should be selected based on temperature, pressure, chemical exposure, flange type and required compliance.

01

Purity & Grade

Select carbon content based on application sensitivity. High-purity grades (≥ 99%) are recommended for nuclear and high-corrosion applications; standard grades suffice for general industrial use.

02

Reinforcement Type

Pure graphite gasket is suitable for moderate pressure. For higher pressure and blow-out resistance, choose stainless steel foil or wire mesh reinforced grades.

03

Dimensions & Thickness

Specify inner diameter, outer diameter and thickness based on flange or equipment dimensions. Thicker gaskets compensate for rough or uneven surfaces.

04

Operating Conditions

Confirm temperature, pressure, chemical media and thermal cycling requirements to select the optimal grade and reinforcement.

Manufacturing

Controlled Production for Consistent Quality

Consistent graphite purity, density, thickness tolerance and reinforcement bonding are critical for reliable graphite gasket performance.

PROCESS / 01

Material Preparation

Flexible graphite sheet or pre-formed graphite material is prepared according to the required grade and reinforcement specification.

PROCESS / 02

Cutting / Molding

Graphite gaskets are produced by cutting from graphite sheet or by compression molding into the required shape and dimensions.
