Calculation Formula For The Length And Cross-sectional Area Of Graphite Packing

Thank you for choosing our graphite packing products.

We provide you with accurate calculation formula for the length and cross-sectional area of graphite packing. This will help you use these sealing materials. We also included important installation tips.

Graphite Packing

Graphite Packing Length Calculation Formula

To find the packing length, use this formula:

Packing length = (Shaft diameter d + Packing width) × 1.07 × 3.14.

Cross-Sectional Area of Graphite Packing

To find the cross-sectional size of the packing, use this formula:

Cross-sectional area of packing = (Diameter of stuffing box – Diameter of valve stem) / 2.

Principle of Selecting Graphite Packing

When choosing graphite packing, remember: “rather large than small, rather tight than loose.” This ensures the best sealing effect.
