Q: How do I choose between twisted and braided rope?
Twisted Ceramic Fiber Fireproof Rope is more flexible and easier to pack into irregular spaces. Braided rope is denser, stronger, and holds its shape better under compression. For door seals, choose braided. For wrapping pipes or filling gaps, twisted is usually the better fit.
Q: Will this rope shrink after the first heat cycle?
You can expect a small amount of initial shrinkage as residual moisture and any lubricant burn off. That is why we recommend retightening gland nuts or door clamps after the first 24 hours of operation. After that, dimensional stability is excellent.
Q: Can I use this rope in contact with molten aluminum?
Standard Ceramic Fiber Fireproof Rope is not recommended for direct contact with molten aluminum, which can react with silica. Ask about our non-wetting grades specifically formulated for aluminum handling.
